UNTIL NEXT TIME

December 17, 2017 By: Deric Kennedy

Well, that's a wrap on season two (my second term) of The SCEM View, with Deric. Yes, it has been nine weeks already. Crazy huh? But a very insightful, worthwhile nine weeks indeed. Prior to embarking on this second term  in my master of strategic communication program at Troy University, I expected to  examine how the changing media environment affects outreach methods and explores practical solutions to achieve communication goals. I also new an emphasis was placed on crisis public relations problems. I have concluded, that is exactly what we did in COM6610. I have grown so much this term and I'm thankful for Dr. Padgett and not only his direction, but his influence!

See you guys next term- January 2018!
Peace and Love

“I Just Wanna Be Successful” December 10, 2017 By: Deric Kennedy “We seem to gain wisdom more readily through our failures than our successes. We think of failure as the antithesis of success, but it isn’t. Success often lies just the other side of failure.” Leo F. Buscaglia. Welcome back to  The SCEM VIEW , with Deric! By now, you know that I’m pursuing a master’s degree in Strategic Communication at Troy University. This blog (which I like to pretend is a popular prime time talk show where strategic communication and pop culture fuse) was originally created to explore and discuss various topics and content in a previous class, Strategic Communication & Emerging Media (SCEM), but I have since completed that course and am now taking COM6610 Leadership and Issues in Strategic Communication. I decided to hold on to the name “The SCEM View” because it's catchy and you guys already know it…so why not? And so, here we are. Let's keep riding this thing out! ...

I'm NOT a blogger.

Hey, It’s All Journalism. Right?   September 17, 2017 By: Deric Kennedy   Technically, Yes. But Don’t You Dare Call A Professionally Educated Journalist   a “Blogger”. They’ll Most Likely Correct You. And Then Punch You In The Face.     Hey, welcome back to The SCEM VIEW, with Deric. As you know, I’m pursuing a master’s degree in Strategic Communication at Troy University. This show (blog) was created to explore and discuss various topics and explore the content in my Strategic Communication & Emerging Media (SCEM) course. And I’m glad to have you back! Quick recap of last weeks show, my COM 6630 class briefly explored social media and how it is one of the biggest nightmares facing strategic communication professionals. We took a look into the world of modern networking and how it’s been impacted by social media i.e., such as Facebook and Instagram. I proposed the question, ‘Are business cards still important today with such a var...
